SHERWOOD CODE PHOTON · RANGE GUIDE
From sticks to protective pads.
Choose Photon to suit your game.
Looking for a lighter stick, more wrist freedom or equipment that moves with you? Sherwood Code Photon takes a different approach to each part of your kit. Compare Pro, 1, 2 and 3 models and build a combination that meets your needs on the ice.
Sherwood Code Photon includes hockey sticks, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards and pants. The sticks come in Pro, 1, 2 and 3 models. Gloves and protective pads use Pro, 1 and 2 tiers, while the pants in this guide come in Pro and 1. Available size categories vary by product.
Pro is the top tier in each category. Photon 1 carries over some of the higher-tier features, while Photon 2 focuses on the essentials for amateur hockey. The Photon 3 stick is the entry point into the range. The same model number does not mean the same technologies across every piece of equipment. Compare two sticks using different criteria from those you would use for two protective pads.
The models below are organised by equipment category and tier. Each model has direct links to its available versions. For a complete overview of the shoulder pad range, we also include Photon 1, which is currently absent from our linked selection.
Code Photon gloves combine a tapered fit with a flared cuff. A closer fit around the hand leaves room for wrist movement. When comparing models, focus on the protection package and palm material: these are the key differences.
Sherwood Code Photon Pro Gloves – SR version
E-Lite Pro Shield combines an integrated shot blocker, Nitrex foam and PE inserts across the backhand and fingers. An AX Suede palm, Flex Lock thumb and Featherlite XT construction complete the glove.
The flared cuff leaves room for wrist movement when handling the stick. The Microban-treated liner helps keep the interior of the glove fresher for longer.
Who it suits: players looking for the highest-tier protection package in the Photon glove range, with wrist mobility and responsive stick feel.
Sherwood Code Photon 1 Gloves – SR version
Photon 1 uses E-Lite Pro+ with a tri-laminate construction. The Pro-Feel palm is designed for a supple connection with the stick and a natural feel from the first use.
The tapered fit and more open cuff remain. Compared with Pro, you get a different protection package and palm; a similar appearance does not mean identical construction.
Who it suits: players who want a developed protection package and a supple palm without the top model's E-Lite Pro Shield construction.
Sherwood Code Photon 2 Gloves – SR version
Photon 2 uses the dual-laminate E-Lite Pro protection package and a Nash palm. It is designed for amateur hockey and retains the tapered fit and flared cuff.
Compared with Photon 1, the main differences are the simpler protection package and different palm material. Check both the fit around your hand and how the glove closes around the shaft.
Who it suits: amateur players who prioritise the essentials, comfort and a lower budget over the features of Pro and 1.
All three tiers are available in SR and JR versions. Our How to Choose Hockey Gloves guide helps you choose the right size and fit.
With Photon shoulder pads, focus on the low-profile fit, how they sit on your body and the placement of protective foams. A higher-tier model will not automatically fit every player better. Compare the actual materials and protected areas.
Sherwood Code Photon Pro Shoulder Pads – SR version
The top model uses Featherlite XT. The senior version combines HPE, EVA and Zotefoams. Nitrex foam is positioned in the shoulder caps and sternum area.
The 360° Wrap system helps keep the pads in place, while the Microban liner supports freshness. Our selection includes SR and JR versions; always compare the construction within your chosen size category.
Who it suits: players with high expectations of their protective equipment who want coverage in key impact areas in a low-profile fit.
Sherwood Code Photon 1 Shoulder Pads – SR version
Photon 1 is also part of the range. The senior version combines Featherlite X, HPE and EVA foams, and Nitrex in the shoulder caps. The 360° Wrap system and Microban liner complete the construction.
Compared with Pro, it uses a different material combination and placement of Nitrex. Photon 1 is the middle shoulder pad tier between the top Pro model and the entry-level Photon 2.
Who it suits: players comparing the middle shoulder pad tier with Pro and 2. Contact us to check ordering options.
Photon 1 shoulder pads are currently absent from our linked selection. If you are interested in this model, get in touch and we will check whether it can be ordered.
Photon 1 shoulder pad details at Sherwood
Sherwood Code Photon 2 Shoulder Pads – SR version
Photon 2 uses Featherlite construction, a perforated vest and moulded EVA foam components. The perforation supports airflow, while the low profile limits bulk around the body.
The 360° Wrap fastening and Microban liner remain. This model is designed for amateur hockey and appears in our linked selection in the senior version.
Who it suits: amateur players looking for lightweight mobility and breathability without the Pro model's material package.
Photon elbow pads use a three-piece design intended to follow the movement of your arm. All tiers include 360° Wrap fastening and a Microban liner. The clearest difference between Pro and 1 is the placement of Nitrex foam; Photon 2 offers a more basic construction.
Sherwood Code Photon Pro Elbow Pads – SR version
Featherlite XT and Nitrex in both the elbow cap and forearm are the key features of the top model. The three-piece design supports arm movement, while the wraparound fastening helps keep the protective components in place.
Compared with Photon 1, Pro adds Nitrex to the forearm. This specific difference is more useful when comparing models than a general label such as 'professional'.
Who it suits: players who want a higher-tier material package around the forearm while retaining arm mobility.
Sherwood Code Photon 1 Elbow Pads – SR version
Photon 1 uses Featherlite X and Nitrex foam in the elbow cap. It retains the three-piece design, Microban liner and 360° Wrap system.
When comparing the top and middle tiers, look at the coverage of the protective foam and how the pad fits. Photon 1 carries over some higher-tier features but is not identical to Pro.
Who it suits: players who want Nitrex around the elbow and a mobile construction, while weighing the price against the Pro model's broader feature package.
Sherwood Code Photon 2 Elbow Pads – SR version
The entry-level tier offers a three-piece construction and a 360° Wrap forearm strap. It is a lightweight design for amateur hockey.
Photon 2 focuses on natural arm movement, secure fastening and essential protective construction. A Microban-treated liner completes the package.
Who it suits: amateur players who need mobile elbow pads with essential protective features. Pro, 1 and 2 are all available in SR and JR versions.
Code Photon shin guards have a tapered, low-profile fit and 360° Wrap fastening. At the higher tiers, compare knee and calf coverage rather than looking only at the Featherlite name. Our linked selection includes Pro JR, 1 JR and Photon 2 in both JR and SR.
Sherwood Code Photon Pro Shin Guards – JR version
The junior Pro model combines Featherlite XT, HPE, EVA and Zotefoams. Nitrex foam protects the knee and calf wrap. A Microban liner completes the construction.
The addition of Nitrex to the calf wrap is a specific difference from Photon 1. The low-profile design retains the range's focus on mobility.
Who it suits: junior players who need a higher-tier material package with Nitrex in the calf area as well.
Sherwood Code Photon 1 Shin Guards – JR version
Photon 1 JR uses Featherlite X, HPE and EVA foams. Nitrex around the knee is complemented by 360° Wrap fastening and a Microban liner.
Compared with Pro, it uses a different material combination and more limited Nitrex coverage. The closer fit and low-profile design remain.
Who it suits: junior players looking for a middle-tier model with Nitrex around the knee, with fit and budget guiding the choice.
Sherwood Code Photon 2 Shin Guards – SR version
Photon 2 uses Featherlite construction and EVA foams. The tapered design is complemented by 360° Wrap and a Microban liner. This model is designed for amateur use.
It has a simpler material package than the higher tiers. Our selection includes both SR and JR versions, so you can choose the appropriate size category.
Who it suits: amateur players who prioritise a lightweight, less bulky design and essential features over the Pro construction.
The Photon pants in this guide are Pro SR and 1 SR. Both models have a tapered fit, 360° Wrap fastening and adjustable length and thigh sections. The main differences are the protective package and outer material.
Sherwood Code Photon Pro Pants – SR version
Pro combines Featherlite XT, Nitrex around the spine, tailbone and hips, and 840D nylon. It is designed for demanding players, with Nitrex foam helping to absorb impacts.
The adjustment system allows a 1″ zippered length extension and expandable thigh panels. These adjustments help fine-tune the fit; they do not replace choosing the correct base size.
Who it suits: players looking for the higher-tier Photon pants who pay attention to back coverage and the outer shell material.
Sherwood Code Photon 1 Pants – SR version
Photon 1 uses Featherlite X, Nitrex around the hips and tailbone, and 420D nylon. Key impact areas are reinforced, and protective components are combined with EVA foam.
This model also has a 1″ extension and expandable thigh panels. The difference from Pro is therefore not the presence of these adjustments. The construction package and outer material specifications differ; 840D versus 420D does not, by itself, mean twice the lifespan.
Who it suits: players who want adjustable pants with Nitrex and are comparing the higher model's benefits against its price.
Our How to Choose Hockey Pants guide helps you choose the right size and basic fit.
The shared feature of Code Photon sticks is a hybrid flex profile. This versatile construction suits players who mix quick releases with shots that load the stick more heavily. The tiers differ in carbon materials, blade construction and balance, with Pro also using the Hybrid2 profile.
Sherwood Code Photon Pro Hockey Sticks – SR version
The top model combines Hybrid2, the EVT taper and Dual Carbon Frame construction. The standard senior version weighs approximately 365 g at 60″. It suits players who pay attention to both weight and weight distribution when handling the stick.
Blackline NXT carbon is complemented by VR92 blade dampening and Featherlite XT balance. VR92 helps reduce vibrations on puck contact, while textured grip zones improve contact between gloves and the shaft. The extended SR version is 64″ long. The stated 365 g weight applies to the standard SR model at 60″.
Who it suits: players who want the highest construction tier in the Photon stick range and prioritise low weight. INT, JR and youth YTH versions are also available; choose the actual version you need rather than relying on the Pro name alone.
Sherwood Code Photon 1 Hockey Sticks – SR version
Photon 1 retains EVT, Dual Carbon Frame, Blackline NXT and VR92 dampening. It uses a Hybrid profile, and the standard senior version weighs approximately 390 g at 60″. The difference from Pro goes beyond graphics.
It is an option for staying with an advanced carbon construction and a similar playing focus when minimum weight is not your main priority. There is also a separate extended senior version.
Who it suits: regular players who want a higher-tier construction and are weighing the benefits of Pro against their budget.
Sherwood Code Photon 2 Hockey Sticks – SR version
Photon 2 combines a hybrid kickpoint and EVT with reinforced shaft and blade construction. The standard SR weighs approximately 415 g at 60″. The blade uses Blackline 32 carbon and VR92 dampening.
Its construction differs from the higher tiers, and the compared SR version is heavier. It still retains the hybrid character that can suit players looking for one stick for varied situations on the ice.
Who it suits: players who want a hybrid Photon stick for regular hockey and place more emphasis on features for the price than on saving every gram.
Sherwood Code Photon 3 Hockey Sticks – SR version
The entry-level model retains a hybrid kickpoint. Its blade uses Blackline 6 carbon and a Peelply textured surface. It is designed for developing players who want an easy-to-control shooting character.
Treat it as a separate construction tier when choosing. Do not assume that technologies from higher models, such as DCF or VR92 dampening, are included.
Who it suits: recreational or developing players who want a composite Photon stick without the features of the higher tiers.
SR, INT, JR and YTH are not performance tiers. They identify versions for different player dimensions and needs. Start with the right length, grip and flex; then choose Pro, 1, 2 or 3. The weights above apply only to the standard SR models at the stated length.
For a more detailed look at the sticks, read our Sherwood Code Photon stick comparison. Our How to Choose a Hockey Stick guide also helps with choosing the right specifications.
Sticks and protective equipment can use similar-sounding technology names with different meanings. These four terms will help you read product details without confusing their functions.
On protective equipment, these names describe different construction packages. Materials vary by equipment type and tier. Featherlite XT Balance on a stick describes its balance instead; it is not the same feature as the foam package in shoulder pads.
Protective foam is not placed in the same areas on every model. For example, Pro elbow pads use Nitrex in the cap and forearm, while Photon 1 uses it in the cap. A technology logo alone does not tell you the full difference.
The wraparound fastening system helps hold equipment in the chosen position. It describes fastening construction, not a separate protection tier. It works alongside the correct size and fit for that piece of equipment.
The antimicrobial treatment used in these pads and selected gloves supports freshness. It is not a protective foam designation or a replacement for regular care. Follow the care instructions for the specific product.
Your entire kit does not have to be from one tier. You can allocate your budget according to the features you need from each piece. The examples below show ways to choose; they are not ready-made sets or universal recommendations.
Compare Pro and 1 sticks, and pay attention to the gloves, particularly the palm and wrist movement. Choose protection and fit separately for the rest of your equipment; a higher-tier stick does not commit you to an all-Pro kit.
Start with specific differences: Nitrex on the forearm of Pro elbow pads, in the calf wrap of Pro shin guards or around the sternum in Pro shoulder pads. If these areas matter to you, compare them directly with models 1 and 2.
Start with Photon 2 and 3 sticks and Photon 2 equipment. Move up where you want a specific feature, such as the Pro-Feel palm on Photon 1 gloves. Correct fit matters more than matching the model name across your entire kit.
Do not apply senior dimensions or weights to a junior version. This guide has direct JR links for sticks, gloves, elbow pads and selected other protective pads. The linked selection includes the Photon Pro stick in youth YTH.
When trying equipment on, include the neighbouring pieces and check that they do not interfere with each other as you move. If you are unsure about combining sizes, contact Hejduksport and tell us what you already use and which piece you want to replace.
No. It also includes gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards and pants. This article connects the model tiers with the product versions available from Hejduksport.
Photon 3 is represented here by SR and INT sticks. Do not assume that the same tiers are available in every equipment category.
JR identifies a junior version, not a lower model tier. Pro, 1 and 2 describe a different classification from SR, INT, JR and YTH. Always compare specifications within the relevant size category.
Each model has direct links to its versions in our selection. Photon 1 shoulder pads are the exception: they belong in the range overview but are currently absent from the linked selection. Check the product page for current sizes, prices and availability.
No. You can combine individual pieces according to the features you need, fit and budget. How protective pieces work together matters as well as the model name.
