Brian’s Optik X4 YTH is designed for young goalies learning modern crease movement. The pads combine a MAX Core inspired profile, a more flexible boot and Primo-Slide surfaces to support post-to-post coverage, pad rotation and confident controlled slides.
Key features
MAX Core Profile
The Optik 4 inspired profile helps create a wide, squared butterfly shape with a stiffer thigh area.
Flexible boot with 80° toe taper
The softer boot area supports tight post play and helps the pad rotate down efficiently.
Primo-Slide inner edges
Durable sliding material on the inner edges gives the pad a quick but controlled sliding feel.
Open knee cradle
The open knee design supports pad rotation and butterfly mobility.
Smart Cord toe ties and Smart Boot strap
Elastic toe ties allow more skate movement, while the boot strap gives goalies a more traditional connection option.
Technology and construction
MAX Core Profile
The MAX Core Profile is derived from the Optik 4 construction and uses an aggressive precurve. For a young goalie, this helps the pad sit in a wider, more squared butterfly position and improves coverage along the ice.
Primo-Slide Boot Lining with Internal Lift
The boot is designed to sit higher off the skate. This helps the pad reach the ice faster and reduces binding between the pad boot and the skate during rotation.
Knee and inner edges
The double-laced one-piece knee block is integrated into the pad body for a stable, consistent landing feel. Primo-Slide inner edges improve sliding performance and add durability to high-wear contact areas.
Strapping system
The 3-point adjustable calf wrap lets the goalie fine-tune how the pad reacts around the calf. Outer-to-inner calf plate strapping keeps the calf area secure while still allowing the pad to rotate naturally.
Who is it for?
Brian’s Optik X4 YTH is made for young goalies who are starting to play a modern butterfly style and need pads with stable knee landings, easy rotation and controlled movement across the crease.
